Memorandum of Understanding - Singapore Retailer Association

14th December 2012 marked another milestone for the Diploma in Retail Management as the course signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Singapore Retailer Association (SRA). A total of 76 industry guests, staff and students of Retail Management were invited to witness the momentous event.

The SRA was founded in 1977 by 10 leading retailers with various objectives such as improving the business standards, professionalism and productivity of retailers. The intention is to help the retailers in the betterment of their business. The signing of the MOU would bring retail education into a whole new level by nurturing generations after generation of retailers in-the-making.

The MOU was signed by Ms. Lau Chuen Wei, Executive Director of SRA and Mr. Daniel Yeow, Director of Business School, signifying the beginning of a 5 year journey to develop and promote retailing as a professional career among the young generation, in particular the students from the Diploma in Retail Management (RMT).

The alliance with SRA will open more doors for the Retail Management students and create more opportunities to expand their scope of learning. Sponsorship in terms of Course Gold medal, book prizes and scholarships will be offered to the students. In addition, students will be afforded the chance to participate in local and overseas student internship opportunities with SRA’s participating companies. Furthermore, the students will also be actively involved in key industry events such as the Great Singapore Sales, SRA Annual Award, and GET Singapore etc. that allows them to interact with major retail industry partners. The partnership is done for the sole purpose of preparing students to be well equipped for the workforce and shaping successful retailers of tomorrow.
